That holy man Moses, who struck the hard rock with his rod, which rock was constrained to yield water: that was beyond human understanding. It was the same with the bitter water that was made sweet. The journey of the Israelites through the Red Sea, and also the greening rod of Aaron: all these things were supernatural. In short, the resurrection of Christ, Son of the Eternal God, which took place in the sealed tomb, and the appearance that occurred to the two who were going
to Emans Emmaus, and to the apostles through the closed door: all that was divine and supernatural. I could draw many more such examples from the Holy Scripture, but I refrain from doing so to avoid being too long.
Among supernatural things are included all signals from mines, the visible appearance of spirits, figures, and signs which show themselves many times and announce good or bad fortune, plague, ruin, or wealth. It also includes all forms in mines found in the earth such as those of men, fish, and other animals that were formed by the three principles and then decayed and were nourished by the earth and the other elements. To these also belong the monsters of the earth, and such things as one finds at certain times in the earth in various forms and manners, and once the time has passed, they are found no more, though they represent themselves and can be found at another time. Here are also included all visions that occur through mirrors, crystals, in water, and by other means.
