This oil is the radical moisture of metals it converts it into this primary humor and thus mercury in which the metallic essence and fertility
principally consist. Likewise, this nourishing? food is for it, which through digestion
is mercury which is extracted from perfect bodies in the third way?, and it is not only called oil immediately? but also the soul of bodies, the brilliance and tincture original: "tinctat" which nourishes its own primary radical moisture. It passes through the primary and radical humor. Just as when the internal organs? of living creatures pass into the substance of the one being nourished, so also through digestion it passes into the radical moisture.

Therefore, this oil of the Philosophers is nothing other than
a water, not of a spring nor of rain, which are
alien to metals, but a mercurial water, highly unctuous,
refined by distillations and reduced in a certain way to the nature of air,
in which the hot or formal principle of metals

be united with metals, for that reason they speak of salt or vegetable
or animal sulfur. Alkali salt or salt ammoniac,
because they are the first movers and mediators, so that the spirit of wine
