A circular bookplate for the "HERMETIC PHILOSOPHY" original: "PHILOSOPHIA HERMETICA" collection. The central emblem depicts a pelican in her piety, a bird feeding her young from her own breast. This is a traditional symbol of self-sacrifice and the Great Work the process of spiritual or physical transformation in alchemy. It sits atop a shield with floral symbols against a blue sky. Below the emblem is the text for the "Netherlands Institute Collection."
