Proverbs of the Fifty

Saying thirty-three

possess, acquire, rich, riches, ride, way, righteousness

Whoever learns wisdom, if he inherits it, it will be his wealth; and if he becomes wealthy, it will cause him to ride on the path of uprightness.

Saying thirty-four

family, is it, anger or infamy, subsists, v.l., vilifies, vining, post

Fierce anger is harder than all that which is before it, and lighter than that which comes after it.

Saying thirty-five

corroborate, to be, gentleness, turpitude, mute, evil, in harshness society

Just as harsh natures are rectified in the company of the upright, so too do good natures become corrupted in the company of the cruel.

Saying thirty-six

counsel, king, good

Uprightness and obligations will establish the kingdom.

Saying thirty-seven

prepared, is prepared, preparation, righteousness

He prepared rest for the day of the choice; and the choice of the distress is righteousness and transgression.

Saying thirty-eight

regret, sin, passive, to hunt/come, restore, adversaries

Whoever does not tolerate the sin of his friend, his enemy will restore him.

Saying thirty-nine

sermon, foolish, obedience

It is better to be a silent and intelligent person than to be a speaker and a fool.

Saying forty

carrying much, times, vilify, diminish

Doing many acts of kindness is necessary, for time turns, and at one time it humiliates the honored.

Saying forty-one

election, conversion, let it be, cleanliness, cruelty, sin

The choice of deeds is repentance from backsliding, and cleanliness from cruelty and sin.
