A detailed, hand-colored astronomical diagram illustrating the lunar theory of epicycles and eccentrics. The central figure is a large circular chart divided by a vertical "LINE OF THE APOGEE" and a horizontal "LINE OF MEAN LONGITUDES". Around the central Earth, eight lunar epicycles (numbered I to VIII) show the phases of the moon, from the New Moon to the Full Moon. The chart is enclosed within a zodiac ring featuring illustrations of the twelve signs. The corners are decorated with colorful putti in clouds holding the title banners. Two smaller inset diagrams are located in the bottom corners, one showing lunar phases and the other showing the geometric relationship between the eccentric and the epicycle.
