A grand, hand-colored celestial map of the northern hemisphere from Julius Schiller's Coelum Stellatum Christianum (1627). This map replaces traditional Greco-Roman constellations with Biblical figures and stories. Central features include a large ship (Ursa Major) labeled "St. Peter," King David playing a harp, and Noah's Ark. Various Apostles and Saints are mapped across the sky. Central objects include the Ark of the Covenant, the Paschal Lamb, and Christ's Manger. The map is gridded with lines for the Ecliptic, Equator, and Equinoctial Colure. The circular border contains scales for latitude and longitude. The corners are filled with angels, and two small inset circular maps show the comparison between classical and Christian constellations.
