A central, ornate oval coat of arms topped with a crown. The shield is quartered: the first and fourth quarters depict a lion rampant, and the second and third quarters feature a checkered (lozengy) pattern. Flanking the shield within the decorative scrollwork are the Latin words "STRENGTH" original: "ROBVR" on the left and "OF VIRTUE." original: "VIRTVTIS." on the right. The entire emblem is surrounded by elaborate Mannerist scrollwork and foliage.
