And as he had thus separated himself, he spoke with no man, except occasionally with a stately Athenian commander named Achilles; yet that did not happen because of any friendship he had for him, but rather for the reason that it seemed to him that he would eventually plague mankind severely and become a cruel tyrant and monster, and especially because his neighbors, the Athenians, had already suffered much harm from him. Yet, nevertheless, it did not seem enough to him that he despised and shunned men most intensely, and that he completely divested himself of their conversation and company and fled from them as if from wild and senseless animals, but he also thought of every means and way by which he might exterminate and destroy the entire human race.
