An ornate engraved portrait depicts Heinrich Khunrath within an oval frame. Khunrath is shown as a bearded man of 42 years, wearing a fur-lined robe. He sits at a desk, holding a compass over a sheet of paper. Beside him sits a small dog. On the desk are several books, including one open to a German translation of Psalm 71:17. To the left of the central image are four books stacked vertically labeled "HISTORY," "ALCHEMY," "MAGIC," and "KABBALAH." To the right are various alchemical or scientific instruments and a globe. At the top of the engraving is a coat of arms and a biblical quote. Below the main portrait is a rectangular block containing a twelve-line Latin poem in acrostic form, flanked by two figures.

Culminate not the books of this one, I tell you, O SOPHIST:
Oh, may the labor of this HEINRICH yield to the AMPHITHEATER!
Namely, for by the instinct of the sacred Divinity he performed it correctly;
So let these writings never be contrary to the TRUTH;
I because he defends and adorns sincere WISDOM,
Lifting up the fallen, and by purging, he clarifies the abuse.
In the living, he wished to serve man and GOD,
Uthat by equal reason the Name and Omen of KHUNRATH,
MAGNIFICENT IN COUNSEL, might celebrate the gifts of IEHOVAH.
Debased, nothing remains unless he scorns the taunts of Momi a mythological figure representing blame or criticism;
Et let him continue to benefit many by writing: M. Andr. Riccius.
In genius he is strong, and he is polished in Art.
The bolded first letters of the poem form the acrostic "CONSILIUM DEI" (The Counsel of God).
