Receive this now, therefore, all you who desire to be inflamed with the love of supernal things, and read through in this book: what is now, and shall be forever after the future judgment, the state, life, exercises, and the various actions of those holy citizens, their riches, honors, and delights. And on the contrary, the state, torments, and suffrages of the souls in purgatory; and the torments, the most wretched and unhappy, greatly to be dreaded torture, and the everlasting state of the damned; from all of which may the Lord deliver us, by uniting us to the citizens of the everlasting city of Jerusalem.
