Behold the vestibule of Chemistry.

An ornate square woodcut border frames a circular emblem. Inside the circle, a winged bird, possibly a swan or phoenix, is depicted. Around the inner edge of the circle is a Latin inscription beginning "IN DEO..." In God.... Flanking the woodcut are the numbers "15" on the left and "95" on the right, representing the publication year 1595.
