Furthermore, I hope to inflame and excite other Philosophers and Physicians, however many there may be, preeminent in Erudition, Virtue, and Authority throughout Europe, toward a further, more precise, and more exquisite investigation and scrutiny of this metal of such wonderful Nature. I hope to incite them to add, to perfect with greater refinement and care, and to explain more clearly those remaining things which were either entirely omitted and passed over by us, or were set forth with less refined judgment, or were spoken of in a less suitable and appropriate manner, through the publication of this Writing.
