Use.

The patient should eat chicken or meats prepared without salt and bread, which is the same protocol followed during the administration of the "Blessed Water" original: "aquæ Benedictæ"; a medicinal preparation of antimony. By means of this Syrup, all colicky pains are successfully removed, even in those tending toward paralysis original: "paresin". 2. In the same way, suffocating catarrhs excessive buildup of mucus that have mostly descended into the lungs and heart are wonderfully driven out—provided that the head is subsequently taken into account, the "fluxes" the flow of humors are stopped, the brain is strengthened, and the catarrh is suspended. Note: Antimonial medicines produce different operations in different people; they mostly purge through the "upper parts" inducing vomiting, but sometimes they act through the bowels alone, or even occasionally by inducing sweating.

The Correction of Glass of Antimony.

Some "correct" to "correct" a substance in alchemy means to temper its toxicity or harshness the Glass of Antimony original: "Vitrum Antimonii"; a translucent, amber-colored substance made by melting antimony ore, used as a powerful emetic in this manner: Take Antimony, either calcined reduced to powder by heat or vitrified turned to glass, let it be reduced to an Alcohol In this period, "alcohol" referred to an extremely fine, impalpable powder, not necessarily a liquid spirit, and place it in a Bellonacensian earthenware dish. Having poured over it spirit of wine high-proof ethanol rectified four times, let it be stirred and set on fire, so that when all the spirit of wine is consumed, the Antimony remains dry. Let this operation be repeated 3 or 4 times; finally, let the Antimony be washed with the best Rose Water and dried. It purges gently, but in a larger dose.

An Extraction of Glass of Antimony that works only through the bowels: Pour oil of amber original: "oleum succini" over crushed Glass of Antimony so that an extraction is made; the dose of this extraction (without separating the oil) is 4 or 5 drops. It moves 4 or 5 stools without any distress.

Also note: Take as much Glass of Antimony as you wish, grind it with an equal amount of sugar candy original: "Sachari candi", mix them and place them in a crucible over an open fire. Allow it to melt until it flows together into one glassy mass. Do this three or four times, always using fresh sugar candy; in this way, the Glass of Antimony becomes most transparent and deep red. An extract of this glass purges lightly through the bowels alone.

Another prepares the glass in this way, keeping one part in a corrosive state and subliming the other: Take two or three pounds of crude Antimony: grind it very finely upon a stone. Put the ground powder into a wide earthenware vessel that is not glazed, and place it over a slow fire so that it may be purified. Stir it continually with an iron spatula or an iron spoon until it begins to clump together as if into balls. Then let it be removed and ground again upon the stone as before, and returned to the fire. Let this be done as many times as necessary until the powder takes the form of a whitish ash.
