I have laid out, fully revealed, and made known to everyone this little book on the concentration of vegetables, animals, minerals, and metals, in which consists the welfare of Germany, as well as the general treasure and wealth of the whole world. For which country in Europe or the whole world is so abundantly blessed by God with wine, grain, minerals, and metals as Germany? Since then, the surplus causes a nauseam disgust/satiety or weariness, I have found it good to condense the surplus of wine, grain, minerals, and metals—in which Germany excels over all other countries in Europe—so that it would not lie there and spoil due to its quantity from inattentiveness or contempt. For when such worthless things are condensed, the useless part departs, and the most noble part gathers together. This then cannot spoil so easily afterward as when good and bad are
