to succeed for posterity / to follow faithfully /
have worked with all their spirit / but until now
none / of this small treatise teaching the
magnificent insertion of German letters / according
to the universally favored style / have come into my
hands. As I have, for the contemplation thereof /
from the Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth /
GOD Zebaoth / unto my insignificance / entrusted
more than eternally never sufficiently praiseworthy
graces-talents / and according to the delights
carried / for the fief of our tongue / from the years
of my youth / firstly from the teaching left by the
heathens, found in Isocrates and through Lucretius
