and it is an entirely celestial thing, which pertains to Theology, the judge of souls. Furthermore, the Angels of GOD pertain to supernatural things, endowed with clarified bodies, performing that by the permission of their creator which otherwise consists in the powers of no creature, since the works which they exhibit are hidden from the world, and no less do the works of infernal spirits lie hidden, which are permitted to them by divine allowance. Above all, however, the great works of GOD are perceived and known supernaturally, because they can be judged and comprehended by no human thoughts. Such is especially the supreme grace and beneficence of GOD, which He imparted to men, touched by love, in an infinite and unsearchable way, as also many other miracles through Christ our Redeemer and Savior, published variously and frequently in confirmation of His omnipotence and glory, as when He raised Lazarus from the dead, the daughter of Jairus, and the son of the widow of Nain. He restored speech to the mute, ears to the deaf, and sight to the blind; all these are the supernatural mighty acts of GOD, just as His conception, resurrection, descent into hell, and ascension into heaven lie hidden to the greatest degree and are open only through faith.

Also referred to supernatural things are the ascension of Elijah into heaven and that of Enoch, and likewise the rapture of St. Paul into the third heaven. Furthermore, many supernatural things happen through imagination, visions, and dreams, just as many miracles frequently proceed through imagination, in the same way that multicolored sheep were born by the benefit of variegated rods cast into the water. GOD warned the Magi in the East through a dream not to return to Herod.
