To confirm my proposition more, I assert that there are many things in Medicine manifesting and perfecting their operation in a supernatural manner, only in a magnetic manner, through a certain spiritual attractive virtue, which is attracted by the benefit of the air, because this is the medium between medicine and the vice, just as the Magnet perpetually turns itself toward the southern star, even if this be many thousands of miles distant from that; nevertheless, such a great spiritual operation and inclination intervenes here, that by means of this bond, namely the air, such distances concur. But since an attractive virtue of this kind is commonly known, it has passed into naked custom, and solely holds its place, nor is any further occult quality observed, whence such an operating virtue draws its origin. In a similar manner, wounds and vices can be healed, even if the man oppressed by such and the Physician are separated by a long interval, not by expiations, charms, and other illicit media contrary to GOD and nature, but by those in which the magnetic attractive virtue lies hidden. For if a wounded person moving from here leaves the weapons with which he was hurt, or anything from the blood shed from the wound, to the Physician, from whom legitimate means of healing are then duly administered, as is accustomed to be done with the binding of wounds, he will without any doubt firmly recover, nor are they charms, but such healing is accomplished solely by the attractive virtue of the medicine, which is carried to the wound by means of the air, to purify the wound and to perfect its spiritual operation.
These words will perhaps seem difficult to many and alien to the forces of nature, and many will attack this doctrine.
