That I have decided to present to the eyes and judgment of all the current draft of such a strange, and to many unbelievable, matter has first of all moved me by my irrepressible desire to spread further the goodness and miracles of GOD, and to let the Light entrusted to me by grace in the highest secrets of nature shine for others as well. For, after the all-powerful GOD (who to those who fear him, and thus have the beginning of wisdom, also gives in their sleep what he grants them so that he may raise them from the dust) let the light rise for me in darkness, and deemed me worthy to be enlightened in the wisdom that lies in concealment: I rightfully praise him, for he has hidden such things from the worldly-wise and prudent, and has revealed them unto the babes.
