Nux rubra transparens, quaeq; omnia suscitat una,

Translation: A transparent red nut, which alone awakens all things, if you know how to apply your hand skillfully.

The mine gives a red clay,

I saw therefore that this materia material must be sought in mining. Therefore, as I traveled on the return journey to Germany through the Tyrolean Alps, I did not fail to ask about the mines existing there in abundance, and learned among other things by chance from a lowly person that in a place situated not far away, the great floods of water had torn down a piece of a mountain, where red, yellow, blue, and black clay is found, and therewith various ore nodules.
