silver tree takes root and grows in such a way that one can replant it again elsewhere and move it according to the manner of the wise.
For it is certain and true that the gold which has been made according to the manner of the wise, through their artificial hidden secret, obtains such a great, unusual power and virtue through its rebirth that it incomparably far exceeds the virtue of the gold that nature makes in the earth. Furthermore, the second rebirth exceeds the first, the third exceeds the second, and the fourth exceeds the third.
That is to say that each time it is transplanted or moved, it multiplies tenfold in its power and virtue during its rebirth, and reaches such a degree of overflowing perfection that it makes silver and mercury equal to the perfect and natural gold of the mine through its penetrating heat and highest purity.
Now then, my son, after I have portrayed for you the right way and manner in which the children of wisdom rightly and well sow, plant, and replant the gold tree of the wise, I will explain to you in the following chapter what the right materia matter is that the wise use to put their blessed stone into action; then I will orderly explain to you all our
