most arts; the more special ones, however, are the following: such as medical or pharmaceutical, where the artisan prepares medicines that are either more pleasant or of greater strength, or where he strives to remove the disgust of large potions from the sick, and it is called Iatrochymistry original: "Iatrochymia" or Chymiatry.

The third is concerned with the transmutation of ignoble metals into nobler ones, as for example, lead into gold, and it comes under the name of alchemy or the hermetic art.

The fourth serves for the purification and separation of subterranean things from dross and mineral stones, and it is practiced especially around metal mines in mineral metals and their saline juices, as appears in vitriol, sulfur, arsenic, and similar things; this has earned the name of metallurgy.

The Division of Chymistry.

The species of chymistry are solution and coagulation.

Solution is the division of a mixed body into several parts, commonly called by chemists the principles, by means of heat.
