lines, directed according to the plumb-line, with the attached little weight hanging at all places according to the plumb-line. The little weight, lines, or little cords, as the leveling board is directed, give an indication, touching the drawn lines of the plumb-line straight, that such is in the correct leveling and liberation balancing. But where the wind might bring a hindrance here, and through the movement such a balancing might not show any certain indication, a channel should be made on top of it, five feet long and one cross-finger high; into that one pours water, so that it touches the port of the channel everywhere; then one is certain of the leveling. Thus, through such corobates it is learned how high such sources lie.
Someone at this place who has read the books of Archimedis Archimedes might object to us that such leveling of water cannot happen through water. Since he holds that such water does not behave according to weight, but rests itself in another form, and has its place in the middle point in the sphere, where the center of the whole world is placed.
