Of the number of those whom this opinion holds, besides Grismannus—who says this can be proven from the writings of the Brothers themselves—and Siuertus in der Mummel-Schanze der Nebels-Kappe The Masked Entrenchment of the Fog-Cap, I am acquainted with Nicol. Hunnius in der Betrachtung der neuen Paracelsischen Theologie, writing in this manner: "I leave it to be considered whether Calvinism is lurking behind this Fraternity," etc. Nor are reasons lacking for the blessed man by which he desires to prove this. The first is that their writings were edited in those places where the Reformed religion dominates, namely Marburg and Kassel. Secondly, that the same are dedicated to persons addicted to the Reformed Religion, as that writing Offenbahrung Göttlicher Majestät Revelation of Divine Majesty, which appeared in Hanau in 1619 and was recommended by a Brother of the R. C., demonstrates. Thirdly, that earlier, in 1618, a writing was published in Hanau by a Brother of the R. C. whose title is: Sylloge, an hostia, sit uerus cibarius et συνωνύμως dictus panis? Collection: Is the host true food and what is synonymously called bread? Agreeing with Hunnius—or rather preceding him entirely, because this writing certainly seems older than the Hunnian—is the author who names himself Eusebius Christianus Cruciger in der Beschreibung der neuen Arabischen und Morischen Fraternität The Description of the New Arabian and Moorish Fraternity, in these words: "If one wants to view the things a little by the light, it looks as if this Fraternity were an untimely Calvinist partus birth or miscarriage. Perhaps, after they heard that they had accomplished little by writing and disputing hitherto, and that their horrible errors were coming to light more and more, they thought up these noua somnia new dreams after the example of the dreamer Zwingli." He certainly puts forward the same reasons that the blessed Hunnius puts forward to prove it, except that he also added these: (α) The Fama and Confession mostly proved, adorned, and commended their business with the testimonies of Reformed writers. (β) Some had interpreted those two letters, R. C., which they use in place of a token, in such a way that they signify nothing other than that it is a Fraternity of the Calvinistic Religion. Truly, Colbergius (c. l. p. 268) thinks these reasons do not yet suffice to prove the truth of this matter. If, however, the Ministerium Tripolitanum wider den Gutmannischen Offenbahrungs-Patron, p. 397, as...
