A decorative typographical headpiece consisting of three horizontal rows of ornaments. The top and bottom rows feature fleur-de-lis motifs, while the middle row consists of stylized floral circular patterns.
Take good clay or loam, much or little, according to how much you are melting, and lay it in water for a night. Sprinkle the clay with cloth-flock and pounded horse-manure, make a cupel out of it with wood-ashes, and cut it off with an iron wire. Afterward, take burnt bone-ash, rub it into a fine powder, and rub the cupel with it on the bottom inside.
Take cream of tartar,
burnt salt,
quicklime, 5 lbs. each.
ashes 4 lbs.
beech-ashes 6 lbs.
