Take one or six snail-shells and an egg-yolk, burn such together to powder: When you now wish to melt silver-ore, and such is melted in the fire, then add of the burnt powder into it according to your judgment, so it becomes silver.
Pound the stone small, and add to it copperas, vitriol and alum made or ▽ calcined into powder.
Take pounded salt, cream of tartar, saltpeter, glass-gall, grapevine-ashes, make these into powder; if you cannot have grapevine-ash, then take wine-lees and burn them to powder, and to that add quicklime.
