Furthermore, more Plants of this Garden and the seeds collected from them could be enumerated in this Index, if I had not been away from the Garden, as I have indicated, for a period of two months and more, and thus had been able to enjoy longer leisure to examine and restore to their proper places many others that had arisen confusedly or had been recently received.

Lest the booklet meanwhile be deprived of all utility for the studious Youth and learned Men visiting the Garden frequently, let it be known to them that those earthen pots of our Garden, which are distinguished by white numbers, contain the same Plants which the similar numbers of this Catalog indicate; and thus the trouble of noting down the names of many Herbs, or requesting the same from the Botanist, can be lightened in part. For this same reason, I have added some synonyms of Herbs, and annotations, of which many
