Life.

Roger Bacon is a singularly remarkable man, not only among his contemporaries but also among the scholars before and after the century in which he lived. He could have been a true reformer of all learning in his time, and indeed would have been, had the ignorance of his superiors not robbed him of the opportunity. To recount all his merits in proper detail would lead me into too great a length, contrary to my purpose.
