"According to the judgment of the Swiss historian, there is no place in the Swiss Confederation that does not have some institution, deed, or great man to serve as a particular ornament."
Aarau has its Cantonal School and its original founder. Since the last report regarding its progress, that institution has not been significantly altered in its purpose or in the means used to achieve it. It remains an institution that seeks to combine the instruction of secondary schools gymnasia and higher civic schools. Two years ago, it was handed over by its founders to the high government, which guaranteed it an annual contribution of ten thousand Swiss francs. Circumstances of the time prevented this increase in external support from being applied to the perfection of its internal state.
