Basilius, Valentinus · 1603

poem one can learn much wisdom and understanding; the foundation of the base lies buried herein in the manner of a parable, and the light of all knowledge for health, long life, and wealth stands described here in this book. Many will hold it for unwise, and the majority for sheer foolishness. Yet there will be very few found to whom God has granted understanding, wisdom, and art, so that they might become conquerors over all their enemies. Even though I do not keep order here according to a certain number, as others do in the following planets, as such are spoken of by them, do not let that confuse you. For I follow my own paths, and it has not happened without reasons, which are so important.
