A few years ago, when the most ample Faculty of Philosophy had placed the burden of the Deanship upon my shoulders, I delivered TWO ORATIONS regarding that question—which, in these customs and times, must be thoroughly examined and decided upon not without the most serious cause: Whether the children of Lutherans can be sent and transferred to Jesuit schools with a good conscience of their parents, and to the benefit of the children themselves? At that time, as the nature of the duty demanded, I delivered them in public and solemn academic promotions. I am now making them public property, and I dedicate and offer them to you, Reverend and Most Illustrious Man, relative and friend forever to be honored, together with the annexes.
