Sagittarius, Thomas · 1612

Of this, however, I do this because I know for certain that you, Reverend Man, are the most bitter champion of LUTHER, that incomparable theologian, the most constant defender of true and sincere religion, and a far most serious hater of those Jesuit sphinxes. Then, because I want some living testimony of my affection, benevolence, and the kinship contracted between us to exist for you and yours, and I want it to be available not only to you, who doubt nothing, but also to others.
Wherefore, most beloved relative, accept and receive this little gift of mine, whatever it may be, which nevertheless proceeded from a sincere heart, and commend my labors to GOD also with your prayers. You will experience again in other matters the Sagittarius you have wished for yourself. Farewell. Given at Jena, on the Calends of May, in the year 1612.
