of the Lord, a city kindly visited, and never forsaken, Isa. LXII, 14. so that after such grave calamities as it has suffered, and after so many trials of circumstances, it may return by divine blessing to its former bloom and felicity of every kind. Let our Church flourish, I say, together with our Schools and our most flourishing Gymnasium, like the rod of Aaron that once sprouted; let the pure and uncorrupted proclamation of heavenly doctrine flourish and grow green in it, joined with a study of true and unpainted piety, useful for all things, unhindered, and with the sweetest fruits, like almonds, to be expected therefrom; may the incense rising from the censer of the prayers of the supplicant Priests or Ministers of the word for the whole assembly be pleasing and acceptable to God through Christ the Intercessor, constantly ascending even to heaven. Let the Polity, marked by the Shekel of Israel, flourish, and may the most kind Divine Power kindly forbid that we should ever have to serve another Lord hereafter, nor that tribute should have to be paid further to any other than our legitimate Magistrate, but rather that we, soon participating in the fruits of restored golden liberty and most desired peace according to our vow, may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all piety and honesty. Let the Economic state flourish, let it flourish no less, and take new increments daily, whose swelling prosperity is elegantly adumbrated by the vessel, the manna, that is to say, full of all kinds of God’s goods and benefits. Let commerce and trade, which are currently lying almost on the ground due to these continuous turmoils of wars, flourish and bloom again, I pray; let crafts and all good and liberal arts flourish; let agriculture and livestock farming swell and bloom; may the urns and small vessels of the poor, especially of widows and orphans, be full, and may neither manna nor oil ever fail them, but rather may the God of Israel refresh all hungry and faithful souls with the manna of the richest consolation from his word. Finally, may the sinew of public affairs, as they call it, that is, the monetary matter, also increase, as much as is profitable for each, and so that we may grow richer day by day in those spiritual and heavenly riches of the soul, which are not subject to any corruption, and which no thieves, no enemies of ours can snatch away, which no fire can extinguish, and which no other misfortunes can intercept; let us greedily desire these, I say, for they will endure in the other life as well, and for all eternity, and where we ourselves, among the inhabitants of heaven, as metal most pure and fully purged of all the dross of sin and the stains of the world, and proved not by the fire of any papistical purgatory, but by the δοκιμασια testing/trial of the cross and temptation, translated into the heavenly treasury through a blessed analysis, shall shine forever like most splendid gold, nay, like the Sun and the brightest stars.
