in the very origin or reception, on account of the power of the divinity, He took it immune from guilt, though not from punishment, and undertook the province of satisfying for the rest in it, so that God the Son, the wisdom of the Father, might satisfy God the Father who was offended, and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, offer Himself and become obedient. Although there is one and the same divinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and it cannot be separated or confused, the offense of disobedience committed by the first man tended properly toward power, which is the attribute of the Father. For ignorance, through which there is also sin against the Son, and hatred or ingratitude, through which there is sin against the Holy Spirit, did not proceed so much from the will to sin as from a certain occupation in the love of self and the contemplation of one's own perfection. Since, therefore, the most powerful cause of condemnation is disobedience and contempt, both of God who prohibits evil and of reason which argues and the synteresis the innate spark of conscience which judges, satisfaction is also owed to that eternal power which man did not want to rule over him when he broke His law. Therefore, it was necessary for the Son of God, through whom the Father had created all things, to also undertake the care of reparation in the Holy Spirit through the same most wise power, and thus for God to pay, obedient to God, for the impotent servant. But just as the Holy Spirit was the finger of God in creation, and as it were the effect moving power and wisdom toward things, so also was there need in the reparation. Led by the Spirit, He was incarnated, educated, and governed unto death and resurrection, and Christ was taken back to heaven with His body, until the Spirit should be sent to the disciples, as if by a solitary operation, to lead them unto the very end of the world.
