Therefore, in the first book, I have posited, asserted, and confirmed what should properly be said and held as true (for truth is manifold), that is, what is held in the dogmas of the religion of holy Jesus Christ, not by authority (as Augustinus Eugubinus Agostino Steuco, Iustinus Justin Martyr, Theodoretus Theodoret of Cyrus, and almost everyone before me did), but by reason and demonstration. I have especially wished to persuade and demonstrate with the most powerful arguments in that book the holy Trinitas Trinity, the creation of the world from nothing, the resurrectio resurrection, and the immortality of souls, since certain philosophers disprove these, while Christians believe them more than they understand them by reason, and this is the strongest cause of the impiety arising everywhere. But since falsity is also manifold, and yet there is no kind more false than that which is diametrically opposed to evangelical truth, I took it upon myself to eliminate the lost persuasion of the Alcorani Koran in the second place, not from Latin and...
