and when God is the same now as He once was, and it is impossible that He be defrauded of His intention, it is necessary for the restitution of all things that man be adorned with all the gifts lost in the sinning Adam, so that he may transfuse that light into the entire human race and turn the hearts of the fathers to the children. Since in His infinite mercy JESUS has deigned to confirm me with such a munificent and princely spirit that the very spirit of the first parent is in us, to such an extent that the things I was once accustomed to believe and affirm by faith alone are now set before me in such clarity of intellect that the principles or axioms of mathematici mathematics could not make me more certain than the way I conceive in my mind the mystery of the incarnation of the Word of God or of the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist, I am necessarily compelled to propose these things to the world, so that by these laws the world may learn to find JESUS—the sole author of salvation usually sought from any creature—present everywhere, and having found Him, to acknowledge Him, and having acknowledged Him, to worship and love Him. For this is the end of the universe. Moreover, because after the fall into sin the human world began to rage against itself like wild beasts, unknown to any nation, it also came to pass by divine permission that in the treatment of the most excellent matters, the process proceeded by dissipation, when all of nature relies on no other bond, properly and primarily, than that of union and constraint. Truly, it happened that after such great dissipation was acknowledged, the union would be so much the dearer.
