Since the entire happiness of nature is in union, and the embrace and fruition of the salutary thing, it is necessary that this salvation of the universe be applicable to the whole of human nature, a nature consisting of mind and body, in a manner ordered with the other uses of things.
Just as all fruition happens in a latent way—as the love of possessed money tickles the mind, and not the gold itself—so it is necessary that this salvation be latently united to us in the invisible mode of love, before we attain it when we desire, and it reveals itself in its visible body.
To ascribe any impossibility to God will seem akin to blasphemy: but only to those who do not ponder that there are infinite impossibilities for Him: such as making Himself or His equal, or being moved by anger or mercy, or any affection, or in any way being moved in the innumerable differences and relations of places, in all of which the creature is more powerful than Him. The absolute creation of the world, therefore, by the impulse of His will, is an impossibility which in no way detracts from His omnipotence, just as the aforementioned does not: just as it would not detract from the glory of any powerful prince, were one to say, "it is impossible for him alone absolutely, without the work of another, to construct such a building." Such is the reasoning concerning God.
