Lauterbach, Erhart · 1602

or CHRISTIAN, I ask with the submission and reverence that is due, that you clemently accept this small work, and that you allow both mine and the studies of the whole Community of Arts to be commended to you for your distinguished Clemency for the glory of God.
May the most benign God, the father of our Immanuel, govern, fortify, protect, and clemently save Your Illustrious Highness, along with the entire illustrious Court, both in this new year and in the many following, with paternal goodness. That the eternal God may grant this on account of the Son, the God-man original: "θεάνθρωπον" present to us in both natures, we will pray daily:
Nurturing God, who alone hold the celestial scepters,
And alone cherish these lower empires;
With You presiding, the magistrate is given in the world,
From You comes success and counsel.
Through You, through your holy divine powers, we now pray to You,
Look with favor upon the LEADER of the fatherland of SAXONY,
Who, well named from the happy NAME of CHRIST,
Now performs the noble duty of ELECTOR.
