Lauterbach, Erhart · 1602

Grant this one a Wise Heart, guide him with your sacred Breath,
So that piety and nourishing Faith may always be a companion.
Provide Virtues worthy of such a lofty Prince,
From which a pious reputation may soon fly to the peoples.
Grant him faithful Ministers of the WORD and of the Court,
Who may worship Christ in the true religion:
So that all counsels may be turned for the better, and every
Action, O greatest CHRIST, may be your worship.
May the liberal arts flourish; may the Church grow:
And may the subjects rejoice in their Lord.
Thus Astraea, sister of peace, and venerable faith,
Will receive all public matters in their arms:
And whoever, with the time of life having passed on earth,
Will pour forth grateful songs to You into eternity.
We are certainly persuaded that these pious vows are heard by a propitious God, and result in the salvation and prosperity of your Illustrious Highness. From the Athenaeum of Leipzig, on the day of the Magi, in the Year 1602.
