PREFACE.

So, I understood from his own letters that nothing stood in the way, except the care of organizing the printing house, for the matter to be brought to its immediate end. For I had warned and begged Moses himself, when I had given him those letters to Widmanstetter (by whose faith and persuasion he recognized the man and undertook the work), to write to me immediately as to what success he had found in his affairs. This he did as soon as he could, and explained in what place and estimation matters stood with the newly made Chancellor, but especially with the Majesty of the King of the Romans, such that they were retained only by the difficulty of organizing a workshop of such magnitude. When I heard this, I could not restrain myself from flying there immediately, to promote and manage this business with my own aid. Therefore, to the surprise of both the Chancellor and Moses, as is best explained in the letter in which I addressed the work of the Christian Gospel (for why)
