SInce the purpose for man is that he ought to be carried with his whole effort toward the highest goal of his happiness, and yet the highest part of his happiness is established in the most broadly acquired goods of the mind, he must strive first of all to attain truth itself by the most excellent way. We know for certain that we have attained the truth itself when we recognize it in natural and divinely established things, not only through the cause, but especially on account of the cause.
