PREFACE.

(3 Kings ch. 19, v. 11-12) neither in the great Spirit (of the World and Nature), nor in the commotion (of the thundering law), nor in the Fire (of the Zealot’s judgment) is the LORD original: "יהוה" (YHVH), but in the whistling of a soft breeze: which is the Voice of Grace and the Gospel of PEACE. And He, that is, is JESUS: that Son of Love; in whom alone is the SALVATION, Peace, and Rest of the Soul, and all the Will and Pleasure of the omnipotent FATHER. BLESSED be His Name!

That this ONE thing, and indeed the primarily NECESSARY thing, has not been observed vigilantly by all up to this point as it ought to have been—but, to speak less harshly, has been imprudently opposed by countless people—is the cause of our current state: namely, that in this entire EUROPEAN World, we are discordant, hateful, unpersuadable, envious, arrogant, quarrelsome, without spirit, without faith, without charity, without GOD, and (alas! Christians) without CHRIST.
