PREFACE.

May JEHOVAH—that is, JESUS, the Way, the Truth, and the eternal Life, or our only and clearly Golden and Canonical RULE of what must be believed and done—grant that we might probe and perceive these things, what they are, of what quality, and of what magnitude, more intimately than has been done until now. May we study CHARITY more; and may we convert all our studies and exercises, for the salvation and peace of all, into the grace and glory of the one JESUS CHRIST, OUR KING and our Catholic and Ecumenical Priest. Especially since that seventh class of the Blessed (Matthew ch. 5, v. 9) carries this distinguished inscription:
