A woodcut depicts a blind-tooled leather or vellum book binding. The decoration consists of several concentric rectangular borders. The decorative bands feature intricate, repeating floral and foliate scrollwork patterns typical of 16th or 17th-century bindings. Between these decorative bands are multiple plain ruled lines. The central rectangular panel contains a circular ornamental stamp, though it is worn and partially obscured by a dark, irregular stain. Two metal clasps are attached to the right edge of the cover. The entire surface is marked by numerous small, dark holes (wormholes).
