...regarding the indults An indult is a special permission or favor granted by the Pope that deviates from standard Church law and privileges granted to any printers until now by Us, or by our predecessors the Roman Pontiffs, for the printing of the aforementioned Breviary of Pius V original: "Breviarium... Pij V."; Pope Pius V (r. 1566–1572) was the first to standardize this prayer book following the Council of Trent. We expressly revoke these through this present document and wish them to be considered revoked. This also applies to all Apostolic constitutions and ordinances, whether general or special, that have been granted, confirmed, or approved in any way contrary to what is stated here. Even if these prior documents or their full contents required specific, detailed, and express mention, we consider their substance to be fully expressed in this document. For this occasion only, we specifically and expressly override them, as well as any other opposing rules whatsoever.
Furthermore, we desire that the same total trust be given to copies of these our letters—even those printed in the Breviaries themselves, or those signed by the hand of a public Notary and protected by the seal of a person established in an Ecclesiastical dignity A high-ranking official within the Church hierarchy, such as a bishop or cardinal—as would be given to these present letters themselves if they were displayed or shown in their original form.
