Since, by the mandate of the Most Reverend Father ERHARD of RADKERSPURG, Procurator and Commissary General of our Order, I have most accurately read and examined with a censor's eye original: "censorio... ungue," literally "with a censor's fingernail," a Latin idiom meaning to examine something with extreme care and rigor the work titled: The Wonders of Divine Faith, which GOD daily works in any Christian who lives by Faith, composed by the Reverend Father ULRICH of GABLINGEN, Lecturer of Sacred Theology of our Order; and having found nothing contrary to the Catholic Faith or Christian moral discipline, but rather having found everything religiously in harmony with the authority of the Sacred Scripture and the sound doctrine of the Holy Fathers; therefore, as far as I am concerned, I judge it most worthy of the printing press and the eyes of all for the common benefit of the Church.
Given in our Convent at Alessandria A city in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy, in the Province of Saint Joseph of Leonissa, on June 8 original: "sexto Idus Junii," the sixth day before the Ides of June, 1771.
I have attentively reviewed the work titled: The Wonders of Divine Faith, which GOD etc. composed by Fr. ULRICH of GABLINGEN, Capuchin Lecturer of Sacred Theology, by the mandate of the Most Reverend Father ERHARD of RADKERSPURG, Procurator and Commissary General of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin of Saint Francis. Since I could find nothing in it contrary to the Catholic Faith or good morals, and since all the wonders of Divine Faith proposed by the author in his contemplations are, in my opinion, highly capable of elevating the minds of the faithful above the stars and setting their hearts on fire, I therefore believe it will be more beneficial if the work is committed to print.
Given in our Convent of San Salvatore, June 4, 1771.
Since two theologians of the same Order, to whom we entrusted the task, have revised the work titled: The Wonders of Divine Faith, which GOD daily works in any Christian who lives by Faith, composed by Fr. ULRICH of GABLINGEN, Preacher of our Order and formerly Lecturer of Sacred Theology, and have approved that it may be published in print; we grant permission for it to be published, provided that the necessary requirements original: "servatis servandis," an ecclesiastical legal phrase meaning "with the things that ought to be observed having been observed" are met, and the consent of those whom it further concerns is obtained.
Given in Rome at the Convent of the Immaculate Conception, June 19, 1771.
