Regarding the previous method for making ☿ium mercury current from our ore, it is well to note that, as stated in the enclosed letters, the materia vel minera nostra our matter or ore must turn green through imprægnationem impregnation. This happens when one adds back to the matter what was previously taken from it (specifically by distillation in a water bath), and then proceeds with sitting in the air and in a cellar for some time. There, a sulphur should appear with the benedicta viriditas blessed greenness. Whoever wishes to understand this correctly must only heed the analogy taken from leaven, and the aphorism of the philosophers regarding ☿um mercury through ☿um mercury with ▽a ♁li antimony water; in this way, one can soon arrive at the correct path.
Take the finest gold, poured through ♁ antimony seven times, in a sufficient quantity. Dissolve it in a good Aqua Regis royal water, and abstract it in a Balneum Mariae water bath until it reaches an oily state. Place this in a cellar and let it crystallize. Remove these crystals with a wooden spoon or small tongs, dry them gently but thoroughly, and grind them very subtly. Then, pour over it the best and strongest ▽ ♀ Venus water/copper vinegar (NB: one may take of the ▽ water described above, which is colored red and is used to elicit ☿ium mercury from mineral electrum) so that it stands a couple of fingers deep above it. Seal it well and place it for several weeks in a damp, mild, putrefying heat (which can best be done in horse manure). After this—
