Apoc. 17. a. 1. 5.
Past the Babylonian whore,
O den of murderers,
They spoke: O devilish choir!
The Sheriff’s servant spoke: Tell me,
Why do you speak such high words?
Then she began to explain to him
Apo. 18. c. 24.
*That many a soul is murdered.
They read her sentence,
As that she had despised
Infant baptism in present,
And did not desire their Sacrament.
Furthermore, you run together,
Heb. 10. c. 25.
†In assembly, said the Council,
Which may not become you,
For it is against the Emperor’s edict.
Then she spoke with good advice:
Mar. 16. b. 16
‡Baptism belongs to the believers;
I will prove it with the Scripture.
And where can you enclose God?
Why do you not make us equal,
My pleasant brothers and sisters,
For we do not depart from our faith,
That you do not banish us as well?
The second, for her own benefit,
Whose verdict they also read,
One would let her go free,
Because she was not baptized.
Turn away from your faith,
They spoke without confusion,
Believe as we all do,
And go home with us again.
You Lords, know this,
She spoke at that moment:
That the spiders eat your bread-god A reference to the consecrated host, mocking the idea of the Real Presence.,
I do not wish to be a partaker of that.
Toward the gate they have stepped,
Joyfully, as to a feast,
And have prayed to God:
Acts 7. f. 59
*O Lord, receive our spirit.
This seemed good to the Lords,
For they remained furious in the heart;
Esa. 59. a. 7 Prov. 1. b. 16
‡Their feet run quickly
To shed innocent blood.
As one saw recalled,
To lead into the open,
Bringing the brothers to the crossing,
Whose names follow here clearly.
Henrick Dircksz, without delaying,
Who came along singing;
Luc. 6. c. 22.
*Blessed are those who here depart,
†Apo. 6. a. 11.
†They shall receive shining garments.
One shall reward them,
As the Lord Himself promises,
4. Es. 2. c. 43.
And in addition, eternal *crowns,
‡Mat. 24. a. 13
‡All who struggle steadfastly.
This is the Lord’s Sabbath, proper,
For which I have longed for a long time;
Not worthy to suffer for Your name,
But Lord, You make me worthy.
He spoke: Hear my justification.
