Many people say that it is within their own will and ability to embrace the true faith in Christ as they please, or to walk through it. An editorial mark of a floral character appears here in the original. Great presumption, as the Scripture testifies that all the devices and attempts of the human heart are evil, as the Lord makes known (Gen. 6:5, 8:21). In such a way that there is no one who makes himself turn to the Lord with a willing heart (Jer. 30:21).
Man also cannot receive anything, unless it is given to him from Heaven (John 3:27 and 15:5).
Neither does it go according to anyone’s will or running, but according to God’s mercy (Rom. 9:16).
For by grace we have been saved through faith, and that not of ourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one may boast (Ephesians 2:8, 9).
And every good and perfect gift is from above, coming from the Father of lights (James 1:17).
He who inclines our hearts to Him, so that we walk in all His ways, and keep His commandments (1 Kings 8:58).
He who must necessarily convert us, if we are to be converted (Jer. 31:18).
He who must give us a heart to fear Him (Jer. 32:39, 40 and Ezek. 11:19, 20).
And He who must complete us in every good work, to do His will, working in us that which is well-pleasing before Him, through Jesus Christ (Heb. 13:21).
A righteous man falls seven times, and rises again (Prov. 24:16).
If he falls, he is not cast away, for the Lord holds him by the hand (Psalm 37:24).
There shall come many false Christs, and shall show great signs, so that they would also deceive the chosen, if it were possible (Matt. 24:24).
But they shall not perish in eternity, for no one shall pluck them out of My hand (John 10:28).
