A world map in a modified Mercator projection, featuring decorative borders on all four sides. The top border contains seven circular medallions depicting celestial deities (Luna, Mercurius, Venus, Sol, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) in horse-drawn chariots. The left border illustrates the Four Elements (Fire, Air, Water, Earth), and the right border illustrates the Four Seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter). The bottom border showcases the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World in circular frames. Two circular polar projections appear in the lower corners of the map area. The oceans are populated with illustrations of sailing ships and sea monsters. The map itself includes several ornate cartouches with Latin inscriptions.

EXPLANATION
In this map, corrected throughout in many
places, the prime meridian has been placed passing
through the Canary Islands, and specifically the island del Fogo,
that is, the Island of Fire. This is how
all ships that sail from these
places to India are accustomed to set their course. For by
the custom and consent of all, this meridian
had to be used as the first. Given at Amsterdam.
