A hand-colored copperplate engraved map of the island of Rügen and the neighboring coast of Pomerania. The map is oriented with North-West at the top. The island is shown with its many peninsulas, including Wittow and Jasmund, and numerous place names. The surrounding sea is labeled "EAST SEA" and "BALTIC SEA," featuring two sailing vessels and a large, elaborate compass rose. In the lower-left corner, an ornate decorative cartouche contains the title and is surmounted by a heraldic crest featuring a crowned lion. The entire map is framed by a wide border containing forty-eight individual coats of arms representing the local nobility, arranged in vertical columns of twenty-four on the left and right sides.
most accurately described by E. Lubinus.
Affixed to both sides are the images of some of the families of the Peers and Nobles, similarly as in the table of the entire continent of Rügen, arranged in alphabetical order, so that nothing is missing from this plain account.
